Policy RecommendationsOur action plan for involving all relevant stakeholders in fight against violence in sport
One more aspect of our project are the policy recommendations that will help battle the violence! Consortium of organizations and sport clubs from North Macedonia and Serbia, have gathered to address the presence of violence against young people in sports. The policy recommendations compiled below are based on the existing sport national strategies and the lack of the existing protection and safeguarding policies in the sport clubs and federations for the young people in both countries.
The recommendations are a direct indication of the urgent need to establish policies, procedures and mechanisms to prevent and fight all types of abuse and violence that are currently taking place against young people in sports. The recommendations are a result of a detailed research that provided concrete data and facts on the issues and the needs of the young people actively involved in different sports.
Policy recommendations mater! There are several benefits of implementing our policy recommendations
Increasing the reportability of violent behavious
Youth will be more comfortable sharing, reporting, or voicing their consernes regarding sports violence, which will help their parents, coaches and other involved parties to act fast.
Youth participation in sports will go up as violence starts going down
By reducing violence levels in clubs young people will more eager to participate.
Empowernment of sports clubs
By applying our recommendations the clubs will have well-trained staff equipped for dealing with violence- related problems at any given moment.
Cooperation with civil society orgabizations will be established
Youth organizations posses vast experience in the field of violence prevention. Their involvement would serve to increase the capacities of the club’s and federation’s staff to use a non-formal approach in addressing violence against youth.
